Rising Atlanta R&B Singer “Rene Bonét" Speaks on Life as an Independent Artist

Rising Atlanta R&B singer, songwriter and rap lyricist  Rene Bonét aka “Bully Barbie” talks about life and shares some of her thoughts, along with her personal struggles as an independent artist.

Bonét, who was recently featured on Revolt TV for her latest visuals “Trendsetter” and “Shawdy” speaks on the topic of life as an indie artist and what it is like to grow up living in a small town, it was extremely difficult for a creative mind -Rene said. She also mentioned how working hard and saying consistency, awarded her with recognition in her local newspaper in her hometown of Leasburg, Virginia.

Rene Bonét, born “Rikita Rene Lincoln”, also speaks about how difficult it was for her to just get through high school, often feeling too different and difficult to get along with. Rene said, “Once I graduated from high school, I simply just left.”

This situation eventually led to the artist moving her focus and career to Atlanta GA. When she arrived in the ATL she ultimately struggled, Bonét said. These difficulties forced her to live in her car, and doing so for months at a time. However, refusing to give up on her dreams, talent and passion as an indie artist. Rene also talks about the hardcore facts of investing in yourself as an independent artist and how she literally spent every penny on creating music.

In 2014, Rene Bonét was introduced to the late Grammy award-winning engineer and producer “Alvin Speights”. Eventually, Alvin saw how much talent, ambition and drive she had, so he took Bonét under his tutelage -making her a force to be reckoned with. In addition, she spent each and every day doing something new, and not a day went by that she was not creating music or working on her craft.

Bonét shares her thoughts on the necessity of having a budget to finance your dreams. She mentions how money is the second most important thing when you’re an artist, talent being the first. Rene also shed light on another topic saying, you can be the best musician out there but if you don't have money to promote yourself, then no one will ever know you even exist, let alone your music. Bonét continues to share her additional thoughts, informing her current and new fan base that she will be releasing a new single every month for the remainder of 2021.
